Centre Stage

Thursday, Feb. 18, 7-10 p.m.  The twice monthly jam will feature any and all genres, depending on who shows up!  Sound system and drums are in place, just grab your instrument or tune up your singing voice, and come on down.  We welcome an audience too, so if you aren’t inclined to join in, but love to listen to music…we would love to see you!   Free event, donations to Stagelights appreciated.

Thursday, Feb. 4, 7-10 p.m.  Percussionist Gordon Later hosts the Join In Jam, now on the first and third Thursdays of the month.  We provide the sound system and drums, you bring your instruments and/or voices.  All genres and skill levels welcome.  This is a free event, but please donate to Stagelights if you can, in order to help cover the costs (building & utilities) for this and other community events.

Thursday, January 14, 7-10 p.m.   Grab your instrument and join other music lovers for an evening of improv!  All skill levels and all ages welcome!  Whether you like rock, country, folk, blues, or jazz, Centre Stage is the place to cut loose!  Our jam schedule will change after this week, so watch for new events.  This is a “Stagelights” event and so there is no admission charge, but please support your local musical arts community by donating what you can.

The Backstage Cafe’  will be open for refreshments during this event.

Thursday, Dec. 17  7-10 p.m.  It’s the last Join In Jam of 2009…grab your instrument or just come on down to enjoy the music.  No cover, but donations to Stagelights (SMAC) are gratefully accepted.  New lesson program starts after the first of the year.

Thursday, December 3, 7-10 p.m. Come and join in or just enjoy the music!  Our last few jams have been a delightful mix of all ages, and all music genres…if you have an itch to get up on stage and play or sing, but perhaps haven’t done it before or need a little encouragement, this is the perfect place to try it out.  No pressure, relaxing atmosphere, great acoustics, and no telling what kind of music will be generated.  Always fun, this is a free event, though we do gratefully accept contributions to the Stagelights Musical Arts Community fund. 

The Backstage Cafe’ is open for espresso and other treats during this event. 

Thursday, Nov. 5, 7-10 p.m. Bring your instruments and join Gordon and friends for some great music and a good time.  Spectators always welcome, musicians love to have an audience!  Musicians of all ages are encouraged to come check it out, meet other musicians, learn new material.  This is a CMAC event, no cover, donations to the Community Musical Arts Center gratefully accepted.  We need your help to keep putting on these events!

Thursday, Oct. 22 7-10 p.m. The ever popular Join In Jam will be hosted by the ever popular Gordon Later (owner Earl E. Books & drum/conga player)…after a seemingly long absence from the music scene at Centre Stage, we are happy to welcome Gordon back to the stage.  So, grab your instruments and Join In!  This is a “donation” event, if you can please do…if you can’t, please come anyway!  All donations go into the fund for CMAC  (Community Musical Arts Center~formerly “Stagelights”), and are used to put on these events and to help students of all ages achieve their musical goals. 

Refreshments will be available at The Backstage Cafe’.

Thursday, July 2, 7-10 p.m.  We have changed the night for the popular Join In Jam, so that we can maintain a consistant schedule, as it has become more and more necessary to plan concerts for Saturday in keeping with traveling performers’ routes and schedules.  Please let us know how this works for you, when we polled our jammers most preferred Thursday over Friday.  So, grab your instruments and come on down!  Admission is free, but we truly appreciate your donations to the music fund.

Saturday, June 20  4-6 p.m.  New Event!  Kid Jam with Angels In Our Eyes, Catherine Rowe & Harmonica Ray.  Be prepared for interactive fun with your children being part of a kazoo section, rhythm section and sing-alongs with hand motions to songs such as Itsy Bitsy Spider, Lion Sleeps Tonight, and many more children’s favorites.  With Harmonica and guitar Ray does Fishin Blues with hand motions and chorus sing along for the kids to learn.  Parents you can participate too! (Each child attending must have at least one parent in tow!) You can also catch this duo at Bullard’s Beach State Part in Bandon, starting June 6th. 

7-10 p.m. This event will be following by the regulary scheduled and ever-popular Join In Jam…the perfect opportunity for you to hone your musical skills in a relaxed and non-stressful environment!  Whether you are a teen or an adult, beginner or advanced, grab your guitar or bass and come to the jam.  We play in a rotation so everyone gets a chance to sit in…these are free events but we will happily accept donations to the “Stagelights” music and arts education program.
