Tom Begich In Concert Saturday, March 13, 8:00 pm:  - Alaskan singer/songwriter Tom Begich returns to Centre Stage for an evening of heartfelt contemporary folk music. Tom completely mesmerized the audience with his moving songs, rich vocals and awesome guitar playing when he was here in October. Don’t miss what is sure to be a magical evening. Admission is $10 at the door or $8 in advance. Stop by Centre Stage or Earl E. Books to get your tickets in advance, since this show will probably sell out. This will be a fundraiser for the Stagelights Musical Arts Community, so come out and support this great organization while enjoying some fantastic music.

Playing for Change documentary & Stagelights Band

Wednesday, January 20 6-9 p.m.  You are invited to the Redwood Theater to view the Playing for Change (peace through music) documentary and to experience the uplifting message of the film.  The Stagelights House Band will kick off the show with 45 minutes of music.  There will be a discussion session after the film, and sign up sheets will be available for music lessons and the youth choir.  This is a fund raiser for Stagelights Musical Arts Community and the suggested donation is $5.  If you don’t have a donation, please come anyway!  Doors open at 5:30.  The Redwood Theater is located at 621 Chetco Ave., downtown Brookings.  Our thanks go to Tim Patterson for donating the use of his venue to our cause! 

The mission of Stagelights is: To provide music education, enrichment and enjoyment to all age groups, regardless of their ability to pay, and…To act as a communal center for musicians and aspiring musicians, with a focus on youth and senior outreach.

Sorry, Erik Mackenroth will be unable to be here as his flights have been cancelled due to weather.    Brookings own Mariah Leanne will perform her own inimitable style of originals and covers.   Free Concert!

Erik Mackenroth Bio:

Erik Mackenroth was a finalist in Orange County’s Funniest Person contest in 2002 and 2006.  He also appeared on “The Extreme Gong Show” as a Flamingo Dancer who shoved live cockroaches down his pants.  Other television appearances include, “Clubhouse” on CBS and the ABC Family show, “Switched”.  Mackenroth also appeared in the movie “Cloud Nine” with Burt Reynolds and National Lampoons Dirty Jokes the Movie, as a drunk.  He has also worked in commercials with Disney and Savin Photocopiers.  Mackenroth has shared the stage with comedians Vic Dunlop, Dat Phan, Bill Kirchenbauer, Jimmie Walker, Bruce Baum, Todd Glass, and Joey Medina from the Latino Kings of Comedy, just to name a few.  You can hear Erik every Tuesday morning on his radio show, “The Downtown Lounge” on LA Talk Radio.

Rick Shaw in Concert

Rick Shaw Concert with an Appetizer Buffet.   Rick Shaw…not a stage name, comes by songwriting honestly. He really had no choice - the genes ruled! His Grandmother - on Dad’s side was a country/ blues songwriter/singer during the depression and all through her life. She passed the country songwriting along to her son Jim Shaw, who ended up in and out of Nashville, Tennessee during his musical career, pitching songs and performing with the country artists of the 50’s 60’s and early 70’s. Rick Shaw will be performing Country/Rock/Blues/Jazz originals and covers for your enjoyment’.  Rick hails from Grants Pass, but has performed at several locations here in Brookings during this past summer.  The cover charge is $12 and will include an appetizer buffet and beverages.    Reservations are encouraged, but not required for this event.

Thursday, December 3, 7-10 p.m. Come and join in or just enjoy the music!  Our last few jams have been a delightful mix of all ages, and all music genres…if you have an itch to get up on stage and play or sing, but perhaps haven’t done it before or need a little encouragement, this is the perfect place to try it out.  No pressure, relaxing atmosphere, great acoustics, and no telling what kind of music will be generated.  Always fun, this is a free event, though we do gratefully accept contributions to the Stagelights Musical Arts Community fund.

Thursday, Oct. 22 7-10 p.m. The ever popular Join In Jam will be hosted by the ever popular Gordon Later (owner Earl E. Books & drum/conga player)…after a seemingly long absence from the music scene at Centre Stage, we are happy to welcome Gordon back to the stage.  So, grab your instruments and Join In!  This is a “donation” event, if you can please do…if you can’t, please come anyway!  All donations go into the fund for CMAC  (Community Musical Arts Center~formerly “Stagelights”), and are used to put on these events and to help students of all ages achieve their musical goals.
