Stagelights Musical Arts Community (SMAC)

Our mission is simple.  To provide opportunities for music education and enrichment for students and music lovers of all ages, regardless of ability to pay.  To provide a venue, a place for musicians to connect and to perform. 

Board members:  Kim Banfield-founder & Chair,  Perry Devine-Secretary, Michelle Later-Treasurer, Scott Graves-Promotions & Assistant Treasurer, Ted Erdahl-Lesson Coordinator.

Stagelights raises money for the music lesson and outreach programs through fundraiser concerts, community donations, sponsors, and grants.  We are a non-profit operating under the umbrella of BACA (Brookings Area Council on the Arts) and as such all donations are tax-deductible.  We are in the process of putting together a summer program for high school students, especially those who are not employed in summer jobs and who have an interest in music, song-writing, recording, and graphic design.

Music Lessons are offered for the following :  Guitar, Drum, Banjo, Violin, Piano, and Vocal.  Some of the teachers available for instruction are Toni Land, voice and performance coach-Carl Rovainen, beginning violin and banjo-Billie Ruth Furuichi, beginning vocals-David DuBois, beginning to intermediate guitar, Ted Erdahl-beginning to intermediate guitar, Jerry Moffit-keyboard.  If you are on the lesson list we will be contacting you soon.
